About Us
Wexford Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, LLC, was founded in 2014 by Shernaaz Kapadia, MD, and Ellen Scholnicoff, MD. Drs. Kapadia and Scholnicoff had previously worked together for several years as associates at another medical practice in the North Hills. However, they first met in 2003 when Dr. Kapadia was Chief Resident of Pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh (now of UPMC) and Dr. Scholnicoff was just entering her pediatrics internship.
The very first day they met, at a picnic for new interns in Schenley Park, they discussed their mutual interest in the field of allergy/immunology, as Dr. Kapadia was planning to enter her fellowship in that field the following year at Children's. As it turned out, Dr. Scholnicoff ended up following Dr. Kapadia's exact path through pediatrics residency, Chief Residency, and fellowship in allergy/immunology at Children's before joining her in practice, where they have worked together since 2009.
In 2014 when it became apparent that their practice was going to be closing permanently, Drs. Kapadia and Scholnicoff made the decision to "hang a shingle" and start their own practice. They wanted to establish a medical office with all the bells and whistles of modern technology, such as an electronic health record and a website integrating social media. They wanted to incorporate the most up-to-date standards of medical care into their policies and procedures. But most importantly, they wanted their practice to be a place where their employees looked forward to being each day and where their patients could always depend on kindness, compassion, and the very best medical care.
